QuickTips for QuickBooks Users
- Always back up your data to rotating sets of disks, compact
disks (CDs) or zip drives. For extra security, keep one backup
file off site.
- Use Preferences (Edit/Preferences) to customize the set up
of your company, activating features you need.
- Keyboard shortcuts can save time. For example, using control
keys Ctrl C then Ctrl V allows you to Copy and Paste.
- ‘Memorize’ or save transactions you use frequently
to save time.
- When you create your company files using QuickBooks, do not
use the Easy Step interview to enter your open invoices and bills.
Instead, open each transaction individually.
- A new QuickBooks user can create a ‘test’ company
file. After creating various databases, you can export all the
database lists into the new company file.
- Make sure all payments received are fully applied to the corresponding
invoices; otherwise, the income will not be recognized.
- Check regularly to see that your balance sheet is in balance.
If your system loses integrity, it would show up here.
